Located north of Mira Mesa and south of Black Mountain Ranch is Rancho Peñasquitos.  Rancho Peñasquitos was the first Rancho in the Greater San Diego area.   The area was purposed for agricuture until it was acquired in 1962 by devleloper Irvin J. Kahn.
